Collecting Coins
There are many ways to collect and enjoy coins. For beginners I will list and describe a few ways:
| By date, mint, variety - In this type of collection you try to get one example of everything. |
| By type - This collection will have one example of each design. |
| Topics - This collection will focus on one subject. Popular topics are animals, sports, ships, space. |
| Time period - This collection will specialize in one period of time. Examples are American Colonial, Ancient Greek, Medieval. |
| Accumulations - This is a group of coins that does not have a pattern. These go together because they bring pleasure to the owner. |
There is no right way to collect. I do suggest that you consider what you are trying to accomplish with your collection before you spend much on it. Make sure that each purchase will result in a coin that you will enjoy owning.
